Pregnant Mothers were facing with multiple risks during the lockdown.
During the early COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, overwhelmed hospitals and citywide lockdowns made it difficult for pregnant women to access prenatal care information and medical support.
Through interviews with mothers and doctors, we identified three key risks:
Hard to reach out to hospitals
Restricted public transportation
No vaccine to protect anyone
What we focused on:
While many of the challenges were beyond our control, two key opportunities stood out:
Helping expectant mothers determine whether a hospital visit was truly necessary before making the trip.
Increasing transparency around hospital availability, services, and access to care.
